[ One - Isa]

One - Isa - Isa.

Learn how to count like a Filipino! This lesson will teach you how to count to ten in Tagalog.

One: i-SA

Two: Da-la-WA

Three: Tat-LO

Four: A-pat

Five: Li-MA

Six: A-nim

Seven: Pi-TO

Eight: Wa-LO

Nine: Si-YAM

Ten: Sam-PU

Go beyond! Here's a quick guide to counting beyond ten

Eleven to Nineteen: Start with the word "La-BING", and add the corresponding Tagalog word for number in the ones digit. For example: eleven would be La-bing-i-SA while nineteen would be La-bing-si-YAM.

Twenty: Da-la-wam-PU

Thirty: Tat-lum-PU

Forty: a-pat-na-PU

Fifty: Li-mam-PU

Sixty: a-nim-na-PU

Seventy: Pi-tum-PU

Eighty: Wa-lum-PU

Ninety: Si-yam-na-PU

To count numbers between multiples of ten, just add a "'t" to the end of the multiple of ten, then add the corresponding Tagalog word for the number in the ones digit. For example: Forty two would be a-pat-na-pu't-da-la-WA, while Ninety-six would be Si-yam-na-pu't-A-nim
